The primary role of BARC is to find new homes for cats and dogs that, for any reason, cannot accompany their owners when they move away from Cyprus.
Animals brought into BARC for rehoming must meet the following criteria to be added to our waiting list:
At least 4 months old, neutered, micro-chipped, fully vaccinated (accompanied by a valid vaccination card), up to date with treatments for fleas, ticks and worms. Dogs also require a negative result for leishmania and ehrlichia with written veterinary proof and to be provided with a new scalibur collar.
A rehoming fee for 95.00 euros is charged per animal to help cover costs during an animal’s stay at BARC.
Adoption (the happy bit...)
Families that think they want to experience the joys of permanent dog and cat ownership will be encouraged to visit their potential pet at BARC on a number of occasions, before taking part in a seven day pre-adoption trial.
The trial is a chance to ensure that the entire family and animal are happy together before final adoption.
All animals that are adopted are neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated.
For dogs a fee of €95 is requested on final adoption, for military entitled personnel 25.00 the adoption fee will be used to set up an export-saving scheme for your new family member. There is no set fee for adopting a cat, the donation amount is the choice of the adopter.
